Thresh/District 11/Strength
Thresh comes from an outlaying District, one of the Districts where being reaped is most certainly a death sentence. But for Thresh, he thought he had a chance of making it out. Due to his sheer strength and (when he is forced to) brutality, Thresh is a real contender in these games. When his name was called, the people of District 11 felt a bit of relief, Thresh was strong and had a chance. But his female counterpart, Rue? The small twelve year old, they were already mourning for her. But Thresh knew that Rue had more then some people bargained for. She was speedy, light on her feet and handy with leaves. Although there was never a true alliance between the two, he promised himself he would try to look out for her the best he could. She was young and someone had to do it.
Thresh’s family was extremely upset when his name got called. His sister was hysterical, and when she visited him she made him promise he wouldn’t give up. He would try to win and come home for his family and the people of District 11. Thresh  promised her he would. He was sure of his strategy and that was to play off of the image the Capitol would present him as. And he knew what that was going to be. A quiet, but deadly tribute who had the misfortune of being born into a poor district. Thresh excelled in training, being able to easily throw off any other person who dared tried to start a fight with him. Not many people did though and he was glad of that. Because Thresh wasn’t a violent person by heart, by his very nature he was almost a gentle giant. He didn’t want to murder and kill other people, all he wanted to do was get back to his family and his District. However, when backed into a corner he will fight his way out. He intends to enter the blood path at the Cornucopia and get gear that will help him in the games.
Thresh’s game strategy is much like Foxface, to lay low and try to not make enemies. But if he did, he did worry…he could out fight them. But he didn’t want it to have to come to that. If he had it his way he would spend the whole of the games in the woods and come out when everyone else had finished each other off. But he has grown a dislike for the Career group but mainly the Distrist 2 male tribute- Cato. He thought he was the most arrogant person he ever had the misfortune of meeting. Cato took pleasure in causing pain in others, especially the girl from District 12. Thresh has a respect for Katniss for what she did, volunteering for her sister. Thresh’s goal? To skate through the games, killing when he has to and trying to protect Rue if he could.

Peeta Mellark/District 12/Strength

Peeta never actually thought he would get picked for the games. There were thousands of names in play, what are the odds of his getting picked? And the odds that he would have to go up against the one girl he had loved since they were little?Katnis Everdeen who knew nothing of her own beauty and seemingly nothing of him. He couldn’t bear to see her get hurt, plus there wasn’t a chance of him getting out of the games alive. His mother proved that to him when visiting him before he left for training. It did hurt a bit, to have your own flesh and blood tell you that you were going die with no chance of survival. He didn’t have any skills that he thought would get him particularly far in the games. But Katniss, Katniss could hunt with such precision it was almost not real.

Peeta grew up in the Bakery, painting the cakes and baking the bread. People thought because he grew up inside of a bakery his family never went hungry. But the truth was, almost all of the food they ate was stale or consisted of some type of bread product. His family had just enough money to get by, but not enough to live comfortably. His days outside of school were spent hauling flour and baking the bread that would then would be sold. Sometimes he got to paint the cakes that lit up the storefront upon which they were placed. His specialty was painting, mixing the colors just right and texturing things to make them look truly life-like. But in the arena where would that get him? You couldn’t exactly paint someone to death. He knew he wasn’t going to make it out alive, but someone else deserved to. The girl he loved since before he could remember understanding love…Katniss Everdeen.

Katniss Everdeen was the girl who ran around District 12 with one thing in mind, keeping her family alive. She always put others before herself and each day risked her life to protect her sisters. When Peeta tossed her that bread all those years ago he thought she forgot about it shortly thereafter, but she didn’t. It was always in her mind, always reminding her that she owed him something. But he never saw it that way. He never truly knew that he saved her life. Peeta knew the odds were never in his favor, not even before the games would begin. That wasn’t to say he was going to lay down and die with no fight. He was going to try to get as far as he could but he wasn’t going to change himself. In the training center he never truly showed how strong he was, and out of the tributes only Katniss knew of his hidden talent. Peeta wasn’t afraid to fight the Careers who seemed to be gunning for him and Katniss since the start. He knew the chances of him actually winning the games weren’t high and he wouldn’t let Katniss Everdeen be killed. If anyone deserved a proper chance at life, it was her. Peeta Mellarks goal? Keep Katniss Everdeen alive at all costs.

Cato/District 2/The Careers

Cato is the deadliest of all the Careers and Tributes. He has trained for this very moment since before he could walk. Although his specialty is swords, he excels in hand to hand combat as well. He can pin you on the ground and beat you in a fight without a second thought. His parents have wanted him in the games since he was little. When they had a child much like most of the other parents, they didn’t want him to enter the games. But when he started showing the signs of having a true talent for swords and fighting, they relented. They started to fall in love with the idea of having their son bring home a victory for their district. Ever since then he’s been training non stop. A typical day would consist of in-school training as well as at home training. He enjoys it too, he loves getting up in the morning and stabbing a dummy with a sword.

When Cato finally had the opportunity for the games he was ecstatic in only the way a Career tribute could be. He was going to win these games, and no one was going to stop him. He was even happier to learn that all of them would be spending four months in training, giving him an even larger edge over his opponents. He could socially expand his game with the Careers. And he could further learn about his other Tributes. Cato isn’t stupid, and he knows that there could very well be someone out there hiding their talents and trying to win the games by stealth. But his arrogance blinds him and he only see’s his fellow Career tributes as actual threats, but he isn’t planning on betraying them. Yes, he will stay with the Career pack until he has to. There is strength in numbers, right? There is, however, one girl who he noticed from the moment her sisters name was pulled out on Reaping day. Katniss Everdeen. The only other tribute to score HIGHER then him.

Although killing is against the rules in the training center, who follows rules? Rules are just a set of guidelines that may or may not be needed. Cato is often seen practicing after others go to sleep at night, trying to get his strength up as much as he can. He wouldn’t want to be out tricked by a girl from District 12. Although his arrogance blinds him with the other tributes, he notices the Girl on Fire and he hates her. He wished she would have let her puny little sister enter the games because he could have killed her in a second. But she didn’t, she volunteered and thus became his number one threat. Who volunteers their self for the Hunger Games when they come from such a poor district. Then if that wasn’t enough…she scored higher then him. Getting an 11 was the rock that set the avalanche in motion. Soon after that Cato began trying to get Katniss out of the games before they even began. Once during training he walked by her, cutting her on her leg on purpose. When she turned around he expected her to give him a dirty look and walk off. But she didn’t, she pinned his arm behind his back flipped him on the floor. Of course he broke out of it within seconds, pinning her back but the fact that she even dared doing that is what made his hatred for her grow. Cato won’t hesitate to Katniss Everdeen, what does it matter if she’s a girl. Cato’s goal? Kill the Girl on Fire before the games even have a chance to begin.
